Real Wedding Wednesday!

                                                                                      ♥ ♥Mr. & Mrs. Bardwell♥ ♥

 Where did you get married?
Although my family is from Kingwood, Bobby and I are so in love with the Texas Hill Country that we decided to get married here! Our venue, The Gardens of Cranesbury View, is located in New Braunfels, Texas.

What was your first dance song?
"Perfect Love" by Alpha Rev. They are one of my favorite bands out of Austin, Texas. Bobby had taken me to one of their concerts a while back and this was the first song they played. Since then, we've had quite a few nights spinning around the kitchen to this song.

What was your favorite part of your wedding?
My favorite part would definitely be the setting. The weather was absolutely perfect on our day, and since we were miles away from any city it was very peaceful and tranquil.

What are you glad you splurged on?
We are both very budget-conscious, so most of our decision making was made through that lens and allowed us to not get attached to anything we couldn't afford. At face value, however, the venue was probably a little more expensive than other venues, but considering it included full service wedding coordination and an array of added freebies (linens, tables, glasses, chairs) I think we got quite the bargain!

What is your advice to future brides?
Try not to control everything. Your friends and family want so badly to be a part of your special day and make it memorable for you. Take some stress off of yourself and let some of your friends and family plan parts of the wedding that you don't 100% need to be involved in.

Get the Look: The Oscars

We enjoyed watching the Oscars last night and of course loved all the fashion. Check out a couple of our bridal pairings below and also our best dressed list.

Jennifer Garner always looks flawless, and this color on her was amazing! Get the look for your big day with Mikaella Bridals (1508).

Amy Adams looked like such a sweetheart in this light blue Ballgown! I would also like to point out that her jewelry is perfection. Get the look with this Saison Blanche ruffled ballgown.

Whittington Bridal's best dressed at the Oscars:

Kari's Pick: Jennifer Lawrence in Dior

"This dress is so flattering, I love the way the skirt makes such a grand statement. I think she had a great moment on the red carpet."

Jenna's Pick: Amy Adams in Oscar de la Renta

" I loved how flirty and feminine it is. It just looked fun! I loved seeing her sitting in the front row with all those ruffles spilling over everywhere."

Leah's Pick: Jessica Chastain in Armani Prive

"Jessica looked so Old Hollywood in this dress, but what I really loved was the color! There was almost a rosegold tone to it and it was so beautiful on her skin."

1.Where did you get married?

We got married at The Gallery here in Houston.

2. What was your first dance song?

Our first dance song was "You Have My Attention" by Copeland

3. What was your favorite part of the wedding?

My favorite part of the wedding was every part that had to do with getting married to Jeff (our vows, being pronounced, etc.), but also the first look we did before the ceremony. It was fun getting to see Jeff's reaction to seeing me for the first time and getting to share some private time before we were the center of attention all night.

4. What are you glad you splurged on?

I am glad we splurged on photo and video. We got high quality products that have forever captured our special fleeting moments of that night.

5.  What is your advice for furture brides?

The best advice I was given for my actual wedding was to stay with my husband the whole night. The whole night was happening for us and it was easy for people to try to talk to us and separate us from each other. We talked to everybody as a pair and stuck together the whole night and we were able to enjoy it together!

Currently Obsessed : The Great Gatsby

We here at Whittington Bridal are currently obsessing over the The Great Gatsby which will hit theaters in May. I love the glitz and glam of the time period, as well as  all the architectural elements that I hope will be present in the new movie.

Art Deco is not a new theme for weddings, but it is one  that has always had a soft spot in my heart. I love pearls and fur and giant hairpieces - clearly I was born in the wrong decade! You can achieve this look for your wedding and still make it look modern by just paying attention to the details.

Pay attention to the detail on your wedding gown. Does the beading reflect an art deco motif? Here are a couple of suggestions:

A great hairpiece is a must! Make sure it is large enough to make a statement but not look too costumey.

Here are a few suggestions:

With these tips in mind, you can truly have your roaring 20's Gatsby moment!

Spotlight on Wedding Hair!

On Tuesday, we had a meeting with the fabulous Jessica over at Adorne Artistry, to talk about trends in bridal hair fashion and accessories and, most importantly, how to wear them! A big tip in wearing hair pieces is ensuring that each hair piece is put in correctly. When worn right, fascinators and combs can be a stunning accent for your wedding day look, but if done incorrectly, you could end up with feathers tickling your face! When in doubt, your hair stylist should definitely know how to put your hairpiece in correctly so that you don't look like a cockatoo!

Here are a few pieces we love and also carry in store! For her entire collection visit: http://www.adorneartistrydesigns.com/

This stunning gold bridal hair clip features a brilliant rhinestone encrusted flowers with sprays of ivory feathers. The back of this clip has both a pin to fasten to a gown and an alligator clip to wear as a unique hair accent.

Modern and lovely, this feather fascinator doubles as a brooch, and can be worn in your hair or on your dress. At the center of the floral feather ornament, rhinestones sparkle in a unique arrangement. A spray of rhinestones stretches from one side, while a beautiful rhinestone dangle falls 3" from the other side.

This fascinator features layers of translucent fabric to create the soft shape of the flower. Embellished with a sequin, crystal and pearl center detail. Soft feathers are scattered throughout to create modern addition to your bridal hairstyle.

Dazzling, dramatic and absolutely glamorous! This stunning bridal hair clip features a gorgeous center adornment encrusted with sparkling clear rhinestones and brilliant Swarovski crystal beads. Surrounding the stunning center embellishment are sprays of soft feathers and delicate netting that add an extra touch of glamour to this already wonderful piece. Available in both white and ivory.

If you are a Houston bride, we definitely recommend Adorne Artistry for makeup and hair, and also some great hair accessories!
